Wines and Spirits firm Julijo investment directors charged

Julijo Investment Limited directors have been charged in Nairobi over fake excise duty stamps.

Joseph Mwangi and Juliana Wairimu Wanjiku are accused of being in possession of 9,900 bottles of fighter extra vodka of 250ml each and 8,094 bottles of King Horse Vodka, all affixed with counterfeit excise stamps.

The illegal stamps caused KRA losses of Sh 1,192,102 of excise duty and a further loss of Sh 446,747 of value added tax. 

The two are alleged to have committed the offence on 31st October 2021 at Kasarani in Nairobi County.

Julijo bosses denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo.

Each of them was released on a cash bail of Sh 100,000.
