A bodaboda rider who hit Banisa Member of Parliament Kulow Maalim Hassan and took off has been charged with causing death by riding in a dangerous manner.
Philip Mweteli is accused that on 25th March 2023 at about 2222 hrs along Daidai Road in South B within Nairobi County, being a rider of motorcycle, caused the death of Kulow Hassan by riding in a dangerous manner on a public road.
The MP died while undergoing treatment at Aga Khan University Hospital.
Mweteli is also accused of failing to stop after having been involved in a road accident and failing to report the incident to any police station or any police officer.
In addition, the accused is facing charges of riding a motorbike on a public road without a licence.
He denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu and was granted a cash bail of Sh 300,000.
The case will be mentioned on 18th April 2023 for further directions.
