Former TV news anchor Jacque Maribe and her ex fiance Joseph Irungu alias Jowie have been put on their defence after the trial court found that they have a case to answer.

The two were charged with the murder of 29 year old Monica Kimani, which occurred on the night of September 2018 in her apartment in Kilimani, Nairobi.

Justice Grace Nzioka ruled that the prosecution had tabled enough evidence to put the two on their defence.

“I am satisfied that the prosecution has tabled enough evidence to put the two accused persons on their defence,” Justice Nzioka ruled.

The defence hearing will be on 11th and 12th May 2023.

A Total of 44 witnesses testified in the case against Jowie and Maribe.

Before her murder, Monica had just arrived in the country from Juba, South Sudan, where she was allegedly running a family business.
