Brothers charged with falsely obtaining gold in Eastleigh

Two men have been charged with obtaining gold by false pretenses.

Ezra Luteshi Lubembe and Stephen Mwandi Lubembe are accused of obtaining 1530 grams of gold worth 5,607,500 from businesswoman Zainabeshi Hassan Debebe by falsely pretending they were in a position to sell the said gold for her.

The two are alleged to have committed the offence on 21st March 2019 at Eastleigh in Nairobi, jointly with others not before court.

They denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku. She granted the two a bond of Sh 2 million and one surety of the same amount or a cash bail of Sh 1 million.

The case will be mentioned on 24th April and will be heard on 13th May this year.
