Chinese nationals wanted for murder in Ethiopia extradited

Four Chinese nationals arrested in Kenya over allegations of murder in Ethiopia have been extradited to face charges.

Fu Xiuzhong, Liu Jie, Huang Zhipeng and Wang Mingchao are accused of killing Hu Fui at a restaurant in Addis Ababa.

The suspects are alleged to have murdered Zohu Yung at Kirkos sub-city worenda 02 in Tolossa Legesse hotel.

The four were presented before a Nairobi court which ordered their extradition.

Another Chinese national, Wang Haito, holder of passport E86222805 is still at large after escaping arrest.

The five are also said to have caused grievously injured two other victims; Yang Kun and Ding Young who are currently admitted in hospital in critical conditions.

Police Inspector Ezekiel Luley of Anti-Terrorism Police Unit told the Nairobi Court the Chinese were arrested on 14th June 2022 at Korondile Market, Wajir County.

They were then escorted to Garissa to assist detectives with the investigations.

Afterwards, the suspects were transferred to ATPU in Nairobi over suspicion of being illegally in the country. 

At the time of arrest, the four did not have identification documents.

The suspects were put on red alert by Interpol after fleeing Ethiopia.
