It is a blow for alleged rogue doctor James Mugo Ndichu alias Mugo wa Wairimu after he was denied bail.

In her ruling, Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku ruled that the prosecution application has merit.

“I find that the application by the prosecution to deny the accused person bail has merit. I therefore deny him bail pending the determination of this matter,” ruled Mutuku.

The magistrate concluded that there exists strong reason why he should not be granted bail.

She added that the also considered those directly and indirectly affected by the alleged offence and vulnerable witnesses.

“It is highly unreasonable for the defense to think the state would give out information on witnesses to be put under protection,” ruled the Magistrate.

Mugo is accused of operating a business of a pharmacist while not registered as a pharmacist.

He is also accused of operating a medical laboratory without registration and license by the Kenya Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.

Mugo was arrested on 12th November 2018 in Gachie Area, Kiambu County. He was arraigned in court where the police obtained orders to detain him further to complete investigations.

Later he was charged and the prosecution objected his release on bail on grounds that investigations were still ongoing.

There were also allegations that he would interfere with witnesses if released on bail.
