Kenya Bureau of Standards MD Bernard Nguyo will not be committed to civil jail after being pardoned by a Nairobi court of contempt in the fertilizer case.

Principal Magistrate Kenneth Cheruiyot pardoned him after he informed the court that he was willing to comply with the orders issued.

Nguyo said that he was aware of the court orders but had not been personally served by the investigating officer.

The MD was summoned after he failed to obey orders to conduct fresh tests in the alleged ‘mercury fertilizer’ issued in mid January.
