Ameru professionals from Meru and Tharaka Nithi Counties led by Lands CS Professor Jacob Kaimenyi are urging the Supreme Court to expeditiously deliver their detailed ruling at the earliest opportunity so that Kenyans can know the precise and meaningful reason behind their September 1st ruling.

Speaking during a press briefing in Nairobi, Kaimenyi advised politicians to desist from apportioning blame on specific people at IEBC without any specificity by the Supreme Court.

“IEBC being an independent constitutional commission should not be dictated or directed by anybody on how to discharge its mandate,” Kaimenyi added.

On behalf of the professionals, the former Education CS also noted that they painfully accept and respect the Supreme Court ruling because they strongly believe that Kenyans must respect decisions arrived at by the legally constituted institutions, especially the independent ones such as IEBC.

“As directed by the Supreme Court, IEBC must be supported to conduct free fair and credible elections as per the constitution and relevant electoral laws,” he said.

Kaimenyi also noted that the date for the fresh elections as directed by the IEBC will ensure that the end of year examinations and the education system are not interrupted for the satisfaction of Kenyans especially the parents.

He urged all Kenyans to come out in large numbers on 17th October 2017 to vote for their preferred presidential candidate.
