Luthuli phone traders charged over Sh 14M worth of counterfeit phones

Two businessmen have been charged with being in possession of counterfeit Samsung mobile phones worth over Sh 14 million.

Muhamed Muhiyadini Abdullahi and Mohamed Abdullahi Maalim jointly with others not before court, are alleged to have been found in possession of the counterfeit products on 2nd November 2021 at Dayyib Communications Shop in Electronic House along Luthuli Avenue in Nairobi.

The products include a variety of Samsung A02S, Samsung A52, A72, A32, M21S among others, all valued at Sh 14, 931,026.

The two denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi.

They were each granted a bond of Sh 1 million and one surety of a similar amount with alternative cash bail of Sh 400,000 each.

In addition, each accused to avail one contact person upon payment of cash bail.
