James Mugo Ndichu alias Mugo wa Wairimu famously known for allegedly sedating and raping female patients at his clinic will be detained for10 days to allow the police to complete investigations.
Senior Resident Magistrate Benson Nzakyo allowed the police to detain him at Pangani police station to complete forensic analysis and record witness statements.
According to the police, Mugo who is facing three other criminal charges is being investigated for several other offences including; unlawfully carrying on a pharmacy business while not registered as a pharmacist; operating a medical laboratory without registration and license; operating a medical clinic without registration and license and obtaining money by false pretenses.
Mugo was arrested last night at around 8 PM in Gachie area by flying Squad officers after an 11 days manhunt.
The suspect is alleged to have been running an illegal clinic in Nairobi’s Kayole area where he mostly carried out illegal abortions. Before his first arrest in 2015, Mugo ran a clinic in Githurai 44 in Nairobi which was shut down upon his arrest.
The police argued that Mugo has several associates, some of whom have already been arrested and charged with criminal offences while others still on the run.

Responding to the prosecution’s request, the ‘doctor’ told the court that the 14 days the police had requested to detain him were many and prayed they be reduces to 7 days, however the magistrate granted the police 10 days.
In addition, Mugo accused two police officers who arrested him of assaulting him thereby occasioning him injuries. He also requested to be given medical attention for the injuries sustained.
The magistrate also advised him to log a formal complaint regarding the assault. The matter will be mentioned on 23rd November 2018 for further directions.
Police stated hunting Mugo after NTV did a story on his Kayole clinic where they discovered that he was still not licensed, had no qualified staff and allegedly conducted abortions.

22 year old Victor Gathiru Kamunya and 19 year old Risper Auma Agony are some of the people charged in association with the illegal clinic.
According to the NTV expose’, Mugo also obtains money from people under false presences.
