Devolution Permanent Secretary Julius Korir has been summoned to appear in court on 10th February 2022 to face assault charges after allegedly beating up his then expectant wife.
The PS is accused that on 17th September 2020 at Ndalat road in Karen within Nairobi, unlawfully assaulted his estranged wife Everlyn Chepkorir Koech thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.
Korir was to plead to the charges today before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi but the court heard that he was not present in court.
The prosecution prayed for summons to be issued against him.
The PS had moved to the High Court challenging his prosecution over the same.
The PS had argued that the Director of Public Prosecution was violating his constitutional right by prosecuting him.
Justice Anthony Mrima dismissed the application in November last year saying that Korir did not show how the DPP violated the Constitution by authorizing his prosecution.
