Congolese, 3 Kenyans charged over Sh 4M gold fraud

 A Congolese national has been charged alongside four Kenyans and a company with conspiracy to defraud and btaining over Sh 4 million from a foreigner in a fake gold deal

Masamba Yusuf Libano, Masamba Zion Mountain Limited, Hillary Wanjiru Mwangi, Joseph Muinde Musyoki and Hosea Ruto are accused of obtaining Sh 4,670,000 Botswana businessman Richard Chibanda, the director Delta PTU.

The accused persons are alleged to have obtained the money by means of fraudulent tricks falsely pretending that they were carrying on a genuine gold business and were in a position to sell and export 10 kilograms of gold.

The four are alleged to have committed the offence on 6th December 2020 in Nairobi, jointly with others not before court.

Libano and Masamba Zion ltd are charged with obtaining the said amount by falsely pretending they are in a position to sell and export 10 kgs of gold, a fact they knew to be false.

The accused persons denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi.

They were each granted a bond of Sh 2 million with alternative cash bail of Sh 1 million each. They were also ordered to provide one contact person upon payment of cash bail.
