A commercial sex worker has been charged with stealing a laptop and two phones totalling to Sh 347,000.

Sheila Anyango Ochieng alias Stella is accused of stealing a pack pack containing a Hp Spectra laptop, IPhone 12 Pro max and a Samsung Galaxy, the property of Benjamin Wafula.

The accused is alleged to have committed the offence on 9th April 2022, along Koinange Street in Nairobi, jointly with others not before.

Anyango denied committing the offence before Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo.

It is alleged that the complainant was driving along Koinange Street when he stopped and talked to one of the sex workers.

He was immediately thereafter, approached by two other sex workers who entered his vehicle and started demanding money from him.

The women allegedly took the above items and started to walk away demanding money so as to return the items to the owner.

However, the accused person alleged that she was not part of the trio that robbed the complainant. She stated in addition that she saw the three ladies get into his car.

Anyango told the court that she was arrested a week after the alleged incident. She told the court she informed the arresting officers she was there when the three ladies got into the complainant’s vehicle. Although, herself was not part of it.

She said she could identify them since they “stand” on the same street. Anyango went ahead to give the police the contact number of one of the women. However, she was the only one who was arrested.

The magistrate cut her short and informed her she would have time to give her defense during trial. She was granted a cash bail of Sh. 100,000.
