Two men and a lady have been charged with robbery with violence after robbing a businessman items worth millions of shillings.
Carlos Sande Ambunya alias Kalonje, Eliud Mbuthia Maina alias Mbush and Catherine Njoki Wanjiru alias Hot were charged with robbing Isnina Osman Aden items valued at Sh 9.7 million and at the time of the said robbery, threatened to use actual violence against him.
The three are said to have committed the offence on 29th March 2018 at Royal Park Estate in Lang’ata, Nairobi armed with a pistol and with others not before court.
Kalonje faced another charge of handling stolen goods after being found in possession of a National Identity card belonging to the complainant, ten rounds of ammunition, two safe keys, and two drawer keys knowing or having reasons to believe them to be stolen.
He is alleged to have committed the offence on 31st March 2018 at MYSA Green House at Saika, Kayole within Nairobi.
Kalonje was further charged with being in possession of the ammunition without a valid firearm certificate.
Lastly he was charged with being in possession of narcotics after being found in possession of three and a half rolls of bhang with a street value of Sh 70.
Among the items stolen was a ceska pistol with two magazines, two title deeds valued at 5 million, assorted jewelry valued at Sh 300,000, whole family’s academic certificates valued at Sh 100,000, 70 rounds of ammunition valued at 3,500, cash 31,000 US dollars (3.1 million), cash 300,000, and six phones.
The three denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi.
Through lawyer David Ayuo, the three requested to released on lenient bond terms and requested that their phones and Mbuthia’s driving licence be returned to them if they are not exhibits in the case.
They were granted a bond of Sh 1million each or alternative cash bail of Sh 800,000 each.
The matter will be mentioned on 23 April and will be heard on 4th May.
