Suspects in Sh 13 million cooking oil fraud charged in Nairobi

Two men have been charged with obtaining cooking oil worth over Sh 13 million by false pretenses.

Seth Orinda and Margaret Magero are accused of obtaining from Elizabeth Kaseka 2000 Jericans of 20 litres cooking oil all valued at Sh 13,100,000 by falsely pretending that they would pay her for every bunch of goods delivered within 21 days after such delivery, a fact they knew to be false.

The two are also accused of forging two sale agreements with the logo Development Aid Africa purporting them to be true sale agreements originating from a registered NGO called Development Aid Africa.

It is alleged that the two committed the offense on the 1st March and 27th September 2022 at General Mathenge Road in Westlands, Nairobi county jointly with others not be fore court,  with intent to defraud.

 In addition, Orinda and Magero are charged with two counts of uttering the said sale agreements without lawful authority and with intent to defraud.

They denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki and were granted bail.
