A man from Bungoma has been charged with obtaining Sh 3.4 million to ship hides and skins to Nigeria.

Kelas Galvood Wafula is accused of obtaining Sh 3,407,069 from Kamaldin Ibrahim Ahmed.

Wafula allegedly obtained the money pretending he was in a position to supply hides and skins to Nigeria, a fact he knew to be false.

The accused is alleged to have committed the offence on diverse dates between 21st October 2021 and 15th February in Nairobi, with intent to defraud.

He denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Ben Mark Ikhubi.

The court heard that the case emanates from a sour business transaction between friends.

He was granted a bond of Sh 1 million with alternative cash bail of Sh 650,000. He is also required to provide one contact person.

The case will be mentioned on 19th July for pre-trial.
