Seven Amana Wholesalers traders charged over untaxed milk powder worth millions

Seven Eastleigh traders have been charged with being in possession of untaxed milk powder and baby formula worth millions of shillings.

The accused persons are Ahmed Ibrahim Abdile, Osama Abdikarim Mohamed, Abdimalik Mohamed Abdulahi, Abdiwahib Osman Kasim, Dahir Hussein Abdi, Nabusuwa Isaac and Said Abdulahi Dirie.

The eight are accused that on 23rd January 2024 at Amana wholesalers Limited in Eastleigh within Nairobi county, they were found in possession of uncustomed goods with a dutiable value of Sh 6,718,153.59.

In addition, the accused persons were found in possession of the uncustomed goods without a valid permit from the Kenya dairy board.

The court further heard that the eight were also found in possession of uncustomed goods with an import levy totaling to Sh 1,000,000 which had not been paid.

The all denies the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi.

The court had granted them a cash bail of Sh 500,000 each but it was later reviewed to Sh 100, 000 each.
