Woman charged after obtaining millions from Kenyans seeking jobs in Australia

A woman posing as an Australian job agent has been charged with obtaining over Sh 5.8 million from Kenyan job seekers.

Teresia Mumbi Kamau is accused of obtaining money ranging between Sh 22,000 to Sh 350,000 from 41 Kenyans who she was allegedly training before they travelled to Australia for the jobs.

She is alleged to have committed the offense between October 2022 and August 2023 knowing the same to be false.

Mumbi denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi.

She was denied bail and will remain in custody pending the hearing and determination of the case.
