Doctor charged over Sh 20M land row with step father

A doctor based at the Ministry of Health has been charged with conspiracy to defraud his step father land valued at Sh 20 million.

Jonah Onentia Magare is accused of conspiring to register to himself a piece of land situated at Green Fields, Nairobi measuring 0.0098 Ha belonging to Joshua Chiefta Gichana Magare (his step-father) with intent to defraud him.

His mother Mary Moraa Magare was charged barely two weeks ago with conspiracy to defraud, uttering false documents among others.

The two are alleged to have forged Joshua’s signature in the transfer of the land.

The accused is alleged to have committed the offence on 5th March 2011 at unknown place in Kenya.

Onentiah, a senior official at Afya House is also charged with forging a letter of authority to transfer lease title dated 28th February 2011 purporting it to be genuine, signed by Joshua Magare.

Lastly he is accused of obtaining registration of the said land fraudulently vide the above certificate of lease on 21st December 2011 at the Nairobi Lands Registry.

He denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and was released on a cash bail 500,000.

The case will be mentioned on 2th July for directions on consolidation.
