Landlady, caretaker charged over Umoja murder

A landlady and caretaker from Umoja II estate have been charged with accessory to murder of a 36 year old woman.

Nancy Wanja Njuguna and Nicholas Kimathi are charged with assisting David Migwi Kariuki a tenant and murder suspect by disposing off the dismembered body on 30th May 2020 in Umoja.

They were released on a bond of Sh 200,000 or cash bail of Sh 100,000 each.

The Directorate of criminal investigations stated that 42 year old Kariuki was arrested following the discovery of the dismembered body parts of a monstrously murdered woman at Tumaini Primary School playground in Umoja II on 31st May.

It is alleged that Kariuki was captured on CCTV walking out of Green Club along Latema Road in Nrb CBD with the lady before she disappeared.

The suspect allegedly fled having kept the body therein for several days, and only disposed it in a sack after the odour from its decomposing parts became unbearable.

The body was dumped in different locations with the head, arms & legs being dumped in Umoja and the torso later found along Landhies Road.

According to DCI twitter page, they have already arrested Kariuki and will soon be arraigned in court.

The case will be mentioned on 1st July for further directions.
