Officer’s wife charged with stealing 2M and a car

A wife of a police officer has been charged with stealing over Sh 2 million from Bridges Credit Africa Limited.

Caroline Nakhumincha Simiyu who is also an employee of Bridges Credit is alleged to have stolen the Sh 2, 886, 305 by virtue of her employment.

Simiyu is accused of committing the offense on diverse dates between 15th April 2016 and 28th July 2017, jointly with others not before court at Bridges offices located at Nginyo Towers along Koinange street in Nairobi.

The accused was further charged with stealing a motor vehicle, Toyota Wish, black in color, registration No. KCD 983U valued at Sh 850,000 from the said company on 24th October 2017.

Further, Simiyu faced an alternative charge of handling stolen property contrary to section 322(1) as read with section (2) of the Penal Code.

The court heard that on 10th July 2018 at Kasarani in Nairobi, otherwise that in the course of stealing, dishonestly received or retained the vehicle knowing or having reasons to believe it to be stolen.

She denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Helen Onkwani who granted her a bond of Sh 2 million or a cash bail of Sh 200,000 to secure her release.
