Three charged over Sh 4.3M tax evasion at JKIA

Three businesspeople have been charged with tax related offences amounting to Sh 4.3 million.

Samson Omondi, Monday Nyakwala and Erastus Mwololo are accused of conspiring to evade payment of taxes amounting to Sh 4.317,145.72 for assorted clothes.

The three are further facing charges of making an incorrect customs entry and knowingly concerned in fraudulent evasion payments of duty thereby occasioning loss of the above amount payable to the commissioner customs and border control.

The accused persons are alleged to have committed the offences between 22 and 30 July 2019 at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport jointly with others not before court.

They pleaded not guilty before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi.

Each of them was released on a bond of Sh 1 million and one surety of a similar amount or alternative cash bail of Sh 500,000.

The case will be heard on 10th December 2019.
