They were also charged with assaulting one Hohamed Idris Mohammed on the same date and place. The accused denied the charges before Nairobi Milimani courts Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi.

The fourth accused person Moses Otieno Ouma pleaded with the court to release them on lenient bond terms since they were all students.

In exercising leniency, magistrate Andayi released them on a personal bond of Ksh 20,000. He also directed the accused’s parents to stand surety for them to ensure that they attend court.

The magistrate also directed that they appear in court for a mention during their half term holiday so as not to interfere with their classes. The case will be heard on 9th April this year.

The students have been arrested a week after chaos among Jamuhuri High School students erupted in the school. The school was closed indefinitely after student unrest.

The incidence which occurred on Tuesday last week left several students seriously injured and some even had stab wounds.

It was alleged that the fight broke out after a section of the students protested alleged discrimination by the school principal on the basis of religion.

The students claimed that it all started after a Muslim and a Christian student differed in the dining hall. The Muslim was in form one and his schoolmate in form four.
