Governor Obado granted Sh 5M cash bail, Oyamo and Obiero to remain in custody

Its a relief for Migori Governor Okoth Obado after the court granted him a  cash bail Sh 5 million and two sureties to secure his release pending the hearing and determination of the murder case against him.
The Governor is charged alongside two of his aides, persona assistant Michael Oyamo and County clerk Caspal Obiero with the brutal murder of former Ringo University student Sharon Otieno.
Oyamo and Obiero were however denied bail on grounds that if released, they will send fear and anxiety to potential witnesses in matter.
However, the governor is yet to released due to an issue with surety and has been taken back to Industrial Area remand prison  .
Justice Lesiit further ordered Obado not to go anywhere near the murder scene adding that he should also not skip any court session nor appeal for adjournment during the trial.
“The accused shall not go 20km within the Migori/Homabay boundary and the court has the liberty to cancel your bail at any time,” the judge warned.
The  Governor was also warned not to discuss the case in a political meeting or private gathering. He should also not contact or intimidate whether directly or by proxy witnesses in this case.
The judge further directed Obado to deposit travel documents including his Kenyan passport, Diplomatic and East African passport in court and not to leave the country.
The lawmaker was also ordered be reporting to the Deputy Registrar of the High Court once a month.
The Prosecution will be calling 30 witnesses to testify against the three.
The case will come up for pre-trial hearing on 14th February, 2019 while the hearing will begin on 6th to 17th May excluding weekends.
The governor has been in remand for over a month now.
Sharon is alleged to have been having an affair with the Governor was found dead on 4th September 2018 in a thicket in Oyugis.
Seven months pregnant Sharon and a mother of two was raped, tortured and had eight stab wounds, one which pierced through her baby killing them both.
