Sierra-leone nationals charged in Nairobi over fraud

Two Sierra-Leon nationals have been in a Nairobi court with two counts of gold fraud related charges.

Kassim Father Kamara and and Hussein Dayeck are accused of conspiring to together by deceit to defraud Wasim Goolam Mohammed Sh 154,150 by falsely pretending that they would use the said money to facilitate release of his 14.26 kilograms of gold from Jomo Kenyatta Airport strong room, a fact they knew to be false.

The two are alleged to have committed the offence on 22nd December at Art Cafe restaurant in Westgate Mall, Nairobi.

The accused persons are also charged with obtaining the said money from Mohammed by false pretenses.

They denied the charges and were released on bai.

They requested the court to order the police to return Sh 50,000 cash, an iPhone, sumsang and two tecno mobile phones.

However the prosecution informed the court that the items were to be used as exhibits in the case.

The case will be mentioned on 7th January and will be heard on 11 February 2020.
