Bytech Savannah Ltd director charged with stealing 4.8 million

The director of Bytech Savannah Limited has been charged with stealing over Sh 4 million from the company.

Bridget Gakii Nyaga is accused of stealing Sh 4,819,000, the property of Bytech Savannah which got to her possession as a director.

Nyaga is alleged to have committed the offence on 12th July 2022 at Co-operative bank, Aga Khan Walk Branch in Nairobi.

The accused is also charged alongside Elphus Mutuma Muriithi with conspiracy to defraud Bytech Savannah.

The two are accused of falsely pretending that they had supplied 580 litres of pathway and 1550 bags of plant protection gypsum to Bytech Savannah, a fact they knew to be false.

It is alleged that the duo conspired to defraud on 12th July 2022 in Nairobi, jointly with another nor before court.

They denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi.

The two had opposed pleading to the charges on grounds that there was a matter before another court touching on the same issue.

The court heard that the money was not stolen and is currently frozen through a court order.

The two were granted a bond of Sh 1 million each with alternative cash bail of Sh 500,000 plus one contact person each.

The case will be mentioned on 28th September 2022.
