A businessman has been charged with publishing false information against the NHIF Chief Executive Officer Elijah Wachira.
Robert Mugasia Adika alias Robert Kiberenge is accused of knowingly making a false press statement which was broadcasted by Citizen Television and Kenya Broadcasting Corporation Television mainstream medias, with intention to discredit the reputation of Wachira.
The accused is alleged to have committed the offense on 18th April 2024 at Milimani Law Courts premises in Nairobi.
Adika is also charged with publishing false information by publishing and displaying prints with information that “Wachira belongs to jail and if the demo doesn’t happen, take note that the organizers have been kidnapped, maimed, arrested or even killed…by Elijah Wachira. 25th April 2024 Demo date” information that he knew to be false and with intention to discredit the reputation of Wachira.
He denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi and was released on a cash bail of Sh 75,000.
