Three charged with forging will of late businessman Balkrishna Ramji Devani

Three people have been charged with intermeddling with the property of the late businessman Balkrishna Ramji Haribhai Devani.

Dinta Devani Pathania, Abhay Singh Pathania and Addah Nduta Ndambuki are accused of conspiring to commit a felony namely forgery of the codicil to will of Balkrishna Ramji Haribhai Devani (deceased).

Samuel Ngugi Ndinguri who is alleged to have been a director in one of the companies owned by the deceased was also charged on 23rd April and he pleaded not guilty to the offenses.

The four are accused of committing the offense on 5th June 2019 at unknown place, jointly with others not before court.

Dinta is also facing a solo charge of intermeddling with the property of the deceased by transferring the shares of Silverstar Properties Limited without express authority.

She is alleged to have committed the offense on 14th August, 2019 at the offices of the Registrar of Companies, Sheria Home in Nairobi County while not being the administrator to the estate of Devani.

The also heard that the accused forged minutes of the meeting of directors of Pelican Signs Limited purporting them to be a genuine.

It is alleged that they committed the offense on 11th November, 2019 at Pelican Signs Limited offices in Nairobi, jointly with others not before court and with the intent to defraud.

They denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Bernard Ochoi and were granted a bond of Sh 1 million with alternative cash bail of Sh 200,000.

The case will be mentioned 20th May 2024 for pre-trial.
